Along with putting this video together for any beginner who is starting an #IIFYM plan, or #flexibledieting to back their fitness routine…TODAY IS DAY-1 OF MY 30-DAY CHALLENGE!!!!!!! (: … I wanted to make a video discussing how I hit my macros for a “snack-type meal” for one of my 5-6 meals I usually have throughout the day. Use this video to help those of you in my 30-DAY TRANSFORMATION CHALLENGE with learning how to count your macros through the next 30 days!

HOW TO COUNT YOUR MACROS
-WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR CALORIES:

PROTEIN: 4 CALORIES PER GRAM
CARBS: 4 CALORIES PER GRAM
FAT: 9 CALORIES PER GRAM

MY REQUIRED MACROS (in grams) FOR THIS MEAL WERE:

PROTEIN: 25g
CARBS: 49g
FAT: 12g

TOTAL CALORIES FOR THIS MEAL: 404 CALORIES

HOW DID I GET TO 404 CALORIES?

PROTEIN: 25g x 4 CALORIES per gram = 100 CALORIES
CARBS: 49g x 4 CALORIES per gram = 196 CALS
FATS: 12g x 9 CALORIES per gram = 108

*IMPORTANT: You aren’t competing on stage! You are trying to get yourself into a healthier routine to get you into a better way of life. Don’t kill yourself trying to hit the EXACT numbers for your macros. AS LONG AS YOU ARE WITHIN +/- 5 g’s OF YOUR REQUIRED MACROS, YOU ARE GOOD.

*As you saw in my video, I was off by a couple each time because our scale weighs in increments of 5’s! LUCKY ME! (must go buy a new scale)

TIPS:

*Always scale/weigh your food COOKED.

*If you aren’t going to put your food right on your scale, make sure you ZERO OUT any bowl or cup you use to hold your food, otherwise your numbers will increase MIGHTILY and you don’t want that!
