Want Virat Kohli’s chiseled body? The India skipper spills the beans on his diet plan.

Virat Kohli’s rise to the highest echelons of the game can be credited due to his impeccable fitness levels. Having emerged as one of the fittest athletes in the modern game, his fitness standards have also set a benchmark for other members of the Indian cricket team.

The India skipper has not only been admired for his fashion sense and batting, but also for his ripped physique. Kohli, who recently turned 29 years old, has also known to be one of the best performers in the Yo-Yo test set by the BCCI to test fitness levels of cricketers.
His journey started as a chubby teenager in 2008, leading the Men in Blue to glory in the U-19 World Cup. But he still managed to be on the radar of selectors solely due to his heroics with the bat.

Realizing what’s hampering him to reach his full potential, Kohli began his transformation journey, and he needs no introduction today.

But what’s the secret behind the Indian talisman’s fit body? In an episode of Gaurav Kapoor’s chat show Breakfast with Champions, Kohli revealed his diet plan throughout the day.

My breakfast is set. I eat an omelette, three egg whites, one whole egg, spinach with black pepper and cheese, some grilled bacon or smoked salmon with it. I eat papaya or dragon fruit if it is available, watermelon. I eat a decent amount of cheese for good fats. After that, I carry my own butter and I get gluten-free bread from the hotels. So, I apply it on that. A nice big pot of green tea with lemon. I drink 3-4 cups of that, “Kohli said.

His main meals during the day also comprise of lean proteins and leafy vegetables, but Kohli also revealed that he increases his intake of red meat when he needs to build muscle.

“When our trainer Mr. Basu tells me to put on a bit of muscle, then I increase red meat, otherwise generally for lunch, it is grilled chicken and mashed potatoes, spinach and veggies and for dinner its seafood,” Kohli added.

One of the shocking revelations was Kohli giving up his favourite cheat meal ‘Butter chicken’. The India captain revealed that he would only indulge in Chole Bhature at Rajouri Garden whenever he craved for something.

But that’s not it. He also disclosed that he spends four hours in the gym during offseason, with a minimum of at least one and a half hours daily.
