The top three foods that you’re probably not eating enough of are leafy greens, sea vegetables, and flax seeds.

Now, leafy greens are the food that’s most missing from our modern diets, and they’re super healthy and really important. Not only are they are very high in fiber, which most of us aren’t getting enough of, but those green veggies offer a lot of minerals that we need like calcium and iron, and vitamins like A, C, and K. And, chlorophyll. Which, if you think about it, is really trapped sunlight. The way that green vegetables turn sunlight through photosynthesis into that gorgeous green color. It really gives you great energy.

Now, sea vegetables are another food you’re probably not eating. Now, if you have sushi you’ve probably had nori paper which wraps up those nori rolls, but there are hundreds of different edible sea vegetables. And what they provide is amazing. They’re the most nutrient dense foods on the planet. They give you trace elements that you might be missing even from a very healthy diet. They also have iodine in them which can be helpful for some thyroid conditions. And, they’re going to offer you things like iron and calcium, and protein.

So if you’re not very familiar with how to use sea vegetables there’s some really easy ways to use it. At the health food store you can get sea veggies that are already in little shakers. They’re pulverized up into a powder. It’s just like a little condiment shaker. You can sprinkle it on anything you’re eating. I put it into soups. I sprinkle it on my greens, on my salads, and in my sandwich. I even put it in my son’s peanut butter and jelly sandwich in between the layers so he goes off to school with an extra hit of minerals.

And the last food you’re probably not eating is flax seeds. Now, flax seeds are a great source of those Omega-3 oils that we need more of for their anti-inflammatory benefits and for protecting your brain. They’re also a great source of fiber, which, again, we’re not getting enough of. So, go ahead and grind up your flax seeds and sprinkle them on your food throughout the day. Very easy way to get your fiber and your Omega-3’s.
